Privacy Policy
Effective August 15, 2026
Just Pick 1 is a group decision-making website. This policy explains what information the service handles, why it is used, who may receive it, how long it is kept, and the choices and rights that may be available to you.
Who is responsible for your information
Just Pick 1 is independently operated by Chris Harrison. Chris Harrison is the data controller for personal information processed through the service and is responsible for privacy requests relating to Just Pick 1. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to support@justpick1.com or through the Support page.
Information you provide
When you use Just Pick 1, you may provide a display name, room names, options, categories, votes, vetoes, pitches, room settings, and other information needed to participate in a group decision. If you contact support, you may also provide your name, email address, room code, and the contents of your message.
If you choose to give product feedback, Just Pick 1 stores your satisfaction choice, optional feedback category, optional written comment, the page context where feedback was requested, and the room type when that context is available. Feedback does not require your name or email address, and the feedback record is not linked to a user account or a specific room.
Account information
You can use many parts of Just Pick 1 without an account. When Google sign-in is used, Just Pick 1 receives the account information needed to authenticate you, such as your email address and account identifier. Other participants are not shown your email address through Just Pick 1.
Automatically collected information
Just Pick 1 may collect ordinary technical information needed to operate, troubleshoot, and secure the service, such as request, error, and security logs. Error-monitoring tools are configured to minimize personal information and are not intended to receive private room content.
Google Analytics is optional. It is not loaded unless you choose Allow analytics. If you allow it, Just Pick 1 uses Google Analytics to understand broad usage patterns and product interactions. Analytics are designed not to include private room content such as room names, participant names, option names, votes, or room codes. When product feedback is submitted, Google Analytics may receive only structured fields such as positive/negative satisfaction, feedback category, page context, and room type. Written feedback is never sent to Google Analytics. Your analytics preference is stored in a first-party browser cookie so the site can remember your choice. You can reopen Analytics choices from the footer and change that preference later.
Separately from Google Analytics, Just Pick 1 keeps anonymous daily product totals for successful lifecycle events such as rooms created, participants joining, decisions completed, saved groups used, and new rounds started. These totals contain only a date, an event type, and a count. They do not contain a user ID, room code, session identifier, IP address, room content, or other information that can be used to reconstruct an individual room or participant. These aggregate counts are recorded whether or not you allow Google Analytics.
How information is used
Information is used to operate group decisions, maintain accounts and saved groups, provide support, review product feedback, improve and troubleshoot the service, understand aggregate usage, prevent abuse, protect the reliability and security of Just Pick 1, and comply with legal obligations.
Legal bases where GDPR or UK GDPR applies
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, Just Pick 1 relies on different legal bases depending on the purpose:
- Providing the service: processing needed to create and participate in rooms, maintain accounts, and provide requested features is used to perform the service you request and, where applicable, perform a contract with you or take steps at your request before entering one.
- Security, abuse prevention, reliability, troubleshooting, and product improvement: processing may be based on the legitimate interests of keeping the service secure, available, useful, and functioning properly, balanced against the privacy interests of users.
- Optional Google Analytics: processing is based on your consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time through Analytics choices.
- Legal compliance: information may be processed when necessary to comply with a legal obligation.
The anonymous daily product totals described above are designed not to contain personal information.
Third-party services and sharing
Just Pick 1 does not sell personal information. It relies on service providers to operate the website and optional features. Categories of recipients may include hosting and database providers, authentication providers, analytics providers when you opt in, error-monitoring providers, and information services used for movie, TV, restaurant, travel, and book features.
These services may include Google for authentication and optional analytics, Sentry for privacy-filtered error monitoring, The Movie Database (TMDB) for movie and TV information, Google Places for restaurant and bar information, and Google Books for book information. Depending on the feature you choose to use, a search term or other information needed to perform that request may be sent to the relevant provider. Their handling of information is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, investigate abuse or security incidents, protect users or the service, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
International data transfers
Just Pick 1 is operated using service providers that may process information in the United States and other countries. Privacy and data-protection laws can differ between countries. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to a transfer outside the relevant jurisdiction, an approved transfer mechanism or other lawful safeguard may be required, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses. You may contact support for more information about safeguards relevant to a particular service provider or transfer.
Rooms and group information
Room information is intended to be shared with the people invited to that room. Anyone with a usable room code or invitation link may be able to reach a room unless the host requires authentication. Private room pages are configured not to be indexed by search engines, but you should still avoid entering sensitive personal information into room names, options, categories, or pitches.
Retention and deletion
Ordinary decision rooms are scheduled for automatic deletion after 180 days without tracked room activity. Tracked activity includes actions such as joining a room, adding or editing choices, submitting votes, and changing room settings or phases. Saved groups are scheduled for deletion after 365 days without being saved again or used to start a fresh room. Just Pick 1 shows an in-app notice during the final 30 days before scheduled deletion; it does not currently send deletion-warning emails.
A host can delete a room sooner, which removes its participants, options, votes, and results. Signed-in users can also request account deletion from the account deletion page. Account deletion removes the account and its linked participation data; a room for which the account is the only host is also deleted. Shared rooms that have another host may remain, while options previously contributed to those rooms may remain without being linked to the deleted account.
Product feedback may be retained for as long as reasonably needed to review trends, plan improvements, and document how reported issues were handled. Because feedback is not linked to a user account or room record, deleting an account or room does not automatically delete a separate feedback submission.
Operational logs, backups, and records that must be retained for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance may follow different retention periods and may not be removed immediately from all backup systems.
Your privacy choices and rights
You may use rooms that do not require authentication without creating an account. You can decline Google Analytics or change your analytics preference at any time through Analytics choices in the site footer. Hosts can delete rooms they control, and signed-in users can delete their Just Pick 1 account.
Depending on where you live and which privacy law applies, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, portability of information you provided, or to object to certain processing. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.
To make a privacy request, email support@justpick1.com with the subject Privacy Request and describe what you are requesting. Just Pick 1 may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and locate the relevant records. Requests are handled within the time required by applicable law; where the GDPR applies, the ordinary response period is one month, subject to permitted extensions.
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority in the country where you live, work, or believe an infringement occurred.
Do Not Track and cross-site tracking
Just Pick 1 does not currently treat a browser Do Not Track signal as a separate analytics preference. Google Analytics remains off unless you affirmatively choose Allow analytics, regardless of your browser's Do Not Track setting. You can control this directly through Analytics choices in the footer.
Just Pick 1 does not use third-party advertising networks or intentionally permit third parties to track your activity across unrelated websites for targeted advertising through the service. If you opt in to Google Analytics, Google receives the limited analytics information described in this policy and processes it under Google's own terms and privacy practices.
Automated decision-making
Just Pick 1 uses participant votes, selections, and configured decision rules to calculate group results and rankings. It does not use personal information to make solely automated decisions about an individual that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Children
Just Pick 1 is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. Do not knowingly submit personal information about a child under 13.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as Just Pick 1 changes. Material updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. If a change materially alters how previously collected personal information is used, additional notice will be provided when required by applicable law.
