Movie night picker

Pick something everyone is actually willing to watch.

Stop spending movie night scrolling while six people suggest different things. Build one shared watchlist, narrow the genres your group is open to, and see which movies or shows have the broadest support.

Share one room code with the group. Sign-in is optional unless the host requires it.

How it works

From suggestions to a decision everyone can live with.

1

Build the watchlist

Search for movies and TV shows so the group can add the right title along with synopsis and availability information. If the host uses a streaming-service filter, only titles allowed by that filter stay eligible.

2

Choose acceptable genres

Everyone marks the genres they would be happy watching tonight. Eligible-title counts reflect the current streaming-service filter, and genres with no eligible titles are shown as unavailable.

3

Vote on the shortlist

People select every remaining eligible title they would watch, and Just Pick 1 ranks the final choices by agreement.

Why it works

A better question than “What is everyone’s favorite?”

Streaming apps are designed to help one person browse a catalog. They are not especially good at resolving a room full of overlapping preferences, especially when one person wants horror, another wants comedy, and someone else only cares what is available tonight.

A shared acceptance vote changes the question from “What is your favorite?” to “What would you be happy watching?” That is usually the more useful question for a group movie night.

Questions

Common questions about movie night picker.

Can we see streaming availability?

Yes. Matched movie and TV titles can include streaming-provider information, and the host can filter the eligible list by selected services. That filter also carries into genre title counts and the room's eligible options.

What if someone adds a title manually?

A manually entered movie or show can later be matched to the correct title so its official name, synopsis, and streaming information are attached.

Can we just pick randomly?

Yes. If your group wants speed instead of voting, the host can enable Quick Decision for a shared random pick from the currently eligible options. In Movie/TV rooms, an active streaming-service filter is respected.

Ready to decide?

Put the options in one place and find the overlap.

Start the room, share the code, and let the group build the answer together.
